Located along the scenic banks of the Petaluma River, The Petaluma River Park is a newly revitalized destination that offers an escape into nature right in the heart of Petaluma, California.
For decades, most of the McNear Peninsula in Petaluma, CA remained unused until, in 1996, city leaders designated it as parkland, establishing a small park at the entrance. In 2018, when the 24-acre property went up for sale, local residents saw its vast potential.
Currently, The Petaluma River Park is a unique space that combines open green areas, walking trails, and habitat restoration efforts with community amenities designed for relaxation, recreation, and education. Situated just minutes from downtown Petaluma, the park provides an accessible way to connect with the natural landscape and observe the unique biodiversity along the river.
Petaluma River Park features an extensive network of trails and nature paths that meander through lush greenery, along the riverbank, and across open fields. These trails are designed to encourage both leisurely strolls and more invigorating walks, making them perfect for all ages and fitness levels. Trash bins and portable restrooms are located by the River Heritage Center and at Steamer Landing Parking Lot.
