History

Windsor's story traces back to the late 19th century when the area was primarily agricultural, with vineyards and apple orchards dotting the landscape. Originally known as Windsor Station, the town served as a stop along the Northwestern Pacific Railroad. Over time, Windsor evolved into a thriving community, blending its agricultural roots with modern development.

The completion of US Highway 101 in 1962 marked a turning point, spurring rapid population growth and economic development from the early 1980s onwards, particularly on the East side where housing developments flourished. The culmination of this growth was the construction of the Town Green in 2001, a visionary project driven by the Windsor Town Council's recognition of the need for a central gathering place to unite the community and forge its identity. Situated on the West side of Old Redwood Highway and US Highway 101, the Town Green stands as a testament to Windsor's evolution into a vibrant and cohesive community.
